A facelift for the G11/G12 BMW 7 Series is on its way, and our spies have sighted yet another mule undergoing testing. The update will prolong the battle between BMW’s flagship sedan and the W222 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, with the latter already receiving a facelift since last year.

This set of photos include a good look at the car’s revised cabin, which now comes with a fully digital instrument display that replaces the current setup with physical overlays. You may have seen a similar approach in the Concept X7 and Concept 8 Series show cars, both of which feature configurable displays.

Other changes include a new steering wheel design that brings the sedan up to date with recent BMW models, but beyond that, the interior appears unchanged from before. One item to point out is the ‘V12’ lettering on the centre console, which probably marks this mule as the range-topping M760Li xDrive model.

On the outside, both the front and rear ends of the mule have been covered up to hide the alterations. Based on our observations, it looks like a more prominent front grille is present, along with larger lower intakes as well as new headlamps with more angular LED daytime running lights.

At the back, the taillights appear to be tweaked ever so slightly, but the car still sports the same quirky-shaped exhaust outlets that are also found on the current M760Li xDrive. As this is a facelift, or Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) in BMW speak, the changes aren’t as profound as a full model change.

Still far away from s class, this is the segment bmw really loss out to Benz

I don’t like it’s gear shifter position (at the turn signal). It reminds me to old MPV and heavy duty vehicles. Even AMG variant now gear shifter at the turn signal.

It’s a damn solid and well planted car to drive but pity because people will think you are a driver if you drive this car yourself.

Please continue to produce more great cars for the mankind BMW…

Bmw interiors are so far behind the other german brands..

Bmw still maintain it’s tradisional sport looking with maintain the more buttons at the center console. Bmw still continued with it’s rotary knob for it’s idrive make it easier to use when driving but they add the touch pad on the top of rotary knob and touch screen in the head unit.
