Tata Motors launched the Tiago EV on September 28 at a starting price of Rs. 8.49 lakh; Comes with a claimed range of up to 315 kilometres on a single charge; Here is a walk-around video.

Tata Tiago EV, India’s most affordable car in the electric vehicle category is priced from Rs. 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes all the way up to Rs. 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV is available in two battery pack options and claims a range of up to 315 kilometres on a single charge. In terms of equipment, it is one step ahead of its sedan sibling, the Tigor EV. Here is everything you need to know about the Tata Tiago EV, in a walk-around video by ‘Dino’s Vault’.

The presenter starts by explaining the design elements of the electric hatch. Upfront, the design silhouette remains almost identical to the Tigor EV with a blanked-off front grille flanked by a pair of projector headlamps and a thin blue strip running underneath, reflecting its EV identity. The lower part of the bumper houses the fog lamp assembly, DRLs, accompanied by a large air intake grille. He further claims that the overall fit and finish levels of the EV are quite good and the car is finished in a tropical mist colour theme.

Towards the sides, he points out the character lines flowing through the body and informs about the 4-star GNCAP safety rating of the Tiago hatch. Other major design elements pointed out the by presenter include black ORVMs, a black roof, and chrome detailing on the door handles. Towards the rear, he believes that the tail lamp is one of the finest in the segment and feels quite neatly integrated into the overall stance. He further points out the Tiago EV branding at the back along with the Tata logo and goes on to open the boot lid for showcasing the 250 litres of boot space.

Inside the cabin, the beach-coloured leatherette upholstery, EV branding, along with the fit and finish of the seats feels very upmarket, as claimed by the presenter. Other notable elements inside the cabin include dual tone dashboard, a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted audio controls and cruise control, a fully digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch infotainment system and more.

The Tiago EV comes in two battery pack options; a 19.2 kWh unit claiming a range of 250 kilometres and the larger 24 kWh battery pack that claims 315 kilometres of range on a single charge. The battery packs are protected by IP67 dust and water resistance ratings and uses Tata Motor’s renowned ZipTron technology. The power is delivered right from the get-go in a typical EV fashion and the hatch can go from 0 to 60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds.

The four charging options include a 15 Amp home charging setup, a 3.3 kWh and a 7.2 kWh AC fast charging and the fastest of the lot is the DC fast charging capable of juicing up the battery from 10-80 percent in just 57 minutes.
